Guidelines for advertisements and offers in the area of animal and species protection
In the interest of animal welfare and species protection, we have set clear guidelines for advertisements and offers. Please note the following points if you wish to advertise on our platform:
1. Compliance with §11b of the Animal Welfare Act (TierSchG).
2. Only certified animal shelters and animal protection organisations in accordance with §11 with an animal protection stamp and complete contact details may advertise.
3. Animals may not be transferred to minors under the age of 16 without parental consent.
4. Offers that advertise animals as gifts are not permitted.
5. The import of certain foreign animals into Germany, in particular listed dogs, is prohibited.
6. Animals with interventions such as tail docking or ear cropping are not allowed, except for animal protection animals.
7. Offering animals with severed vocal cords is prohibited, except for animal protection organisations.
8. Animals with removed claws or teeth may not be offered, except by animal protection organisations.
9. Hairless breeds are not permitted, with the exception of animal protection organisations.
10. The trade in live animal feed is prohibited.
11. Pregnant animals may not be offered for sale.
12. Animals may not be sold for the purpose of fattening or slaughter.
13. Unauthorised resale of animals is prohibited.
14. It is not permitted to offer animals on behalf of third parties.
15. Taxidermy animals are not permitted.
16. Female dogs may only be used for breeding or pregnancy from the age of 16 months and up to the age of 8 years. The minimum weight for small dog breeds is 2 kg.
17. Dogs may only be passed on from the age of eight weeks.
18. It is not permitted to publish pictures of docked dogs in advertisements for puppies.
19. Advertisements must not contain any indication that dogs have been trained to attack other living creatures.
20. Certain cat breeds, such as Manx, Cymric, Sphynx, Rex, Munchkin, LaPerm, Lykoi, Peterbald, Scottish Fold and Scottish Straight, may not be offered for sale except by animal protection organisations.
21. Cats may only be used for breeding or pregnancy from the age of 10 months.
22. Birds, with the exception of parrots, may only be sold from the age of 8 weeks.
23. Parrots may only be sold from the age of 12 weeks.
24. Birds that are not yet able to feed themselves may not be sold.
25. Hand-rearing of birds is only allowed in exceptional cases.
26. Certain rabbit breeds and sizes are not allowed.
27. Hamsters and rats may only be sold from a minimum age.
28. Trade in wild animals, exotic species and protected animal species, as well as their preparations, is prohibited, even if a sales permit is available.
29. Preparations of protected animal species and products from these animals are not permitted.
30. The offering of animal preparations, hunting trophies and similar items is prohibited.
31. Trade in reptiles, primates and other exotic animals is not allowed.
32. In general, the transfer of animals as a gift, in exchange or in other advertisements is not permitted.
33. Renting or lending animals is not permitted on our platform.
34. We would like to point out that it is prohibited to publish advertisements and offers for the trade or offering of live animals of protected species, as well as products and preparations from protected species. This includes animals that are protected by law because they are either threatened with extinction or require special protection in the wild.
