Fraudulent calls from supposed relatives:

This is a common scam, and it is important to remain vigilant. If you receive a call or a message from someone who claims to be a relative in need of urgent financial assistance, be careful and check the information.

Before sending any money, make sure that it is really your relative and not a scammer trying to defraud you. Call your relative at a phone number you know is valid and inquire about the circumstances. If possible, contact other family members or friends to confirm the information.

Fraudsters may use information found on social media or other public sources to convince you that they are indeed your relative. They may know the name, workplace and other details that seem credible. However, this could just be false information used to commit fraud.

Be vigilant and don't rush into sending money. If you have doubts about the authenticity of the call, be sure to check the information and make sure that your relative really needs help. Do not transfer money to strangers or unverified people. It is important to protect your finances and not fall victim to fraud. If you discover that you have been scammed, immediately inform the police or other law enforcement authorities to prevent further criminal activity.
