Which location should I choose for my advert?
Select the location where the item on offer is actually situated or where handover would normally take place.
For a single item, this is usually:
- the item’s current location,
- the usual collection point,
- the place where a face-to-face handover is usually possible.
The selected location is the main location detail for the advert. It cannot be changed after submission for review.
You should therefore check it carefully before submitting the advert.
Can I name additional cities for handover?
Yes. If you are actually able to hand over the item in person in other towns as well, you may state these options factually in the description.
Only specify towns where a handover is realistically possible.
Where possible, describe:
- the standard collection point,
- the additional cities where handover is possible,
- whether prior arrangement is required,
- the days or times when handover may be possible,
- whether handover is only possible occasionally,
- whether there are any additional travel or handover costs,
- whether the item will be taken to these towns or stored there permanently.
Do not state that the item is ‘available’ in several towns if it is actually located in only one place and handover at other locations would only be possible by prior arrangement.
How can I describe additional handover locations?
A clear way of phrasing this is, for example:
- ‘The item is located in Hanover and can be collected there. Handover in Celle is also possible occasionally by prior arrangement.’
If travel costs may apply:
- ‘The standard collection point is Bielefeld. Handover in Gütersloh is possible by prior arrangement. Any travel costs will be clarified in advance via the messaging function.’
If shipping is also offered:
- ‘The item is located in Bremen. It can be collected in Bremen or shipped within Germany. Shipping costs are not included in the item price.’
Avoid unclear wording such as:
- ‘Available everywhere’
- ‘Collection throughout Germany’
- ‘Available in every town’
- ‘Location doesn’t matter’
Such statements may give a false impression of the actual location and the real options for collection.
How do additional city names affect the search?
Cities mentioned in the description text do not replace the selected location.
This means:
- The advert retains the main location selected in the location field.
- Additional city names do not change the saved location.
- The advert does not automatically appear in the location filter for every city mentioned.
- A mention does not guarantee a specific position in the search results.
- A long list of cities does not automatically improve discoverability.
The search function also searches only within the type the user is currently viewing. The type, category and location must therefore match the actual offer.
Do not use long lists of place names, hashtags or repeated search terms to artificially increase your reach.
Further information:
Can I offer shipping?
Yes. If shipping is available, describe the terms clearly.
Please specify:
- the areas to which you will ship,
- the shipping costs,
- whether there are any additional packaging costs,
- who pays the shipping costs,
- which shipping methods are offered,
- whether there are any restrictions regarding size or weight,
- whether tracking is provided,
- whether international shipping is available.
Even if shipping is offered, the selected location remains the item's actual location or regular handover point.
Stating ‘Shipping within Germany is available’ does not automatically make the advert appear in the location filters for every city in Germany.
Do not omit any unavoidable postage, packaging or handover costs.
What applies if stock is actually held in several locations?
If several independently available items are actually located in different places, separate adverts may be justified on the facts.
Each advert must then correspond to an item or stock that actually exists at the selected location.
Please ensure:
- There is actually a separate, available stock at each specified location.
- The quantity per location is correct.
- The images show the item offered at that location or the relevant version.
- The condition and what is included are described correctly for each location.
- The price applies to the stock at the respective location.
- Collection, dispatch and handover conditions are explained on a location-by-location basis.
- Any reservation or handover is updated in the correct advert.
- A sale at one location does not result in incorrect availability information in other adverts.
If several items merely look identical but are assigned to separate stocks, this allocation must remain traceable internally.
Can I advertise the same item in several cities?
Do not create several simultaneously active adverts for a single physical item in different cities merely to achieve a wider regional reach.
This can lead to the following problems:
- The same item appears multiple times as available.
- Interested users receive conflicting location details.
- Parallel enquiries arise for the same item.
- Several people may each assume that a separate item is available.
- The price, reservation status and availability may differ from one advert to another.
- The adverts may be regarded as identical or nearly identical offers.
A different city, a slightly altered title or a different preview image do not make the same item a separate offer.
For a single item, use one advert with the actual main location and describe any other genuine handover options in the text.
How do I specify the price and any additional costs?
Clearly separate the item price from any postage, travel or handover costs.
The description should make it clear:
- what price applies to the item,
- whether the price includes postage,
- how much the known postage costs are,
- whether there are any additional packaging costs,
- whether travel costs may apply for collection in another town,
- when additional costs are agreed,
- whether free collection is available at the main location.
Do not set a low price for an item if the offer is only available subject to additional costs not mentioned previously.
When an item is being given away, mandatory costs that were not apparent from the advert must not be disclosed only after someone enquires.
What should be included in the title and description?
The title should describe the item on offer. Do not use it as a list of towns.
The description should include:
- the actual main location,
- the standard collection point,
- additional cities where handover is genuinely possible,
- any necessary prior arrangements,
- shipping options,
- shipping or travel costs,
- time restrictions,
- the current condition and what is included,
- the number of items available.
If the location is particularly important for the offer, a brief, factual description of the location may be useful. However, do not repeat city names multiple times and do not use lists of locations as search terms.
How should the exact handover be arranged?
Clarify the exact meeting point, time and other details via the messaging function on suchen.expert.
This ensures that important arrangements remain traceable, for example:
- agreed handover location,
- date and time,
- reserved time slot,
- item price,
- postage or travel costs,
- special handover conditions.
Do not include your full private address, telephone number or email address in the title or description.
Only provide your exact private address if it is necessary for the agreed handover and you have coordinated this with the interested party.
What should you do if you have selected the wrong location?
Once submitted for review, the selected location cannot be changed. A note in the description stating otherwise does not correct the incorrect location selection.
If the wrong location has been selected:
- check the current status of the advert,
- do not simply use a conflicting location in the description text,
- deactivate the incorrect advert if it is already active,
- if necessary, create a new advert with the correct location,
- check all basic details before submitting,
- avoid having multiple active adverts for the same item.
If the item is permanently located in another town, the active advert should not continue to show the previous location.
Further information:
How do I keep availability and collection points up to date?
Update or deactivate the advert as soon as:
- the item has been sold or given away,
- the item has been reserved,
- collection in a specified town is no longer possible,
- postage is temporarily unavailable,
- known postage costs change,
- the item has been permanently moved to another location,
- the available stock at a location has been exhausted.
Do not make parallel binding arrangements through several adverts for the same item.
If the item is only temporarily unavailable, it may be advisable to deactivate the advert. If the original offer no longer exists, archive or delete the advert, or create a new, accurate advert if necessary.
What should be checked before submitting?
Check that:
- The selected location corresponds to the actual main location or regular handover point.
- Additional towns or cities are only listed if handover there is realistically possible.
- Conditions for other handover locations are clear.
- Shipping options and restrictions are explained.
- Shipping, packaging and travel costs are clearly stated.
- The title and description do not contain any artificial lists of locations.
- There are no parallel city-specific adverts for the same individual item.
- Each separate location actually has its own stock.
- Price, images and availability are correct for each location.
- Private contact and address details are not publicly visible in the advert.
- The type and category match the item on offer.
- The location details were checked thoroughly before submission.
Review and publication
An advert may be reviewed before publication. Correct location details and a complete description guarantee neither publication nor any particular position in search results.
Nor can processing within a fixed period be guaranteed.
If the advert is rejected:
- read the reason given,
- check the location, title and description,
- check for possible duplicates in other towns,
- correct any details regarding postage and costs,
- do not create slightly modified copies for different towns,
- only resubmit the advert once it has been corrected.

When should I contact support?
Use the contact form if you are unsure which location to select or how to present stock that genuinely exists at several locations.
Please provide the following where possible:
- which item it is,
- where the item is actually located,
- which additional handover locations are available,
- whether shipping is offered,
- whether there is a separate stock at each of several locations,
- which adverts have already been created,
- which advert type and category you selected,
- whether a rejection or error message was displayed.
The support team can review the specific case. However, publication, a particular reach or a fixed processing time cannot be guaranteed.
