A promotion is intended to give your advert the booked attention for the planned duration. The purchase therefore takes into account how long the advert itself will remain active. If the booked promotion service lasts longer than the advert’s remaining duration, the advert’s active duration may be extended accordingly.
This allows your package to deliver its full benefit without the advert reaching the end of its regular duration while the booked promotion is still active. Before booking, you see the offered duration and can choose a period that suits your offer.
Two durations that go hand in hand
An active advert has its own publication period. A promotion service such as ‘Premium Top’, ‘Yellow Frame’ or ‘Gallery’ also has its own duration. The two periods are coordinated at the time of purchase.
The package durations currently on offer range from 7 to 14 days, depending on your selection. The details displayed to you immediately before payment are always decisive.
Please check the following there:
- the selected advert
- the name of the promotion service
- the package duration on offer
- the price
- the start and end dates displayed for the service
If the advert remains active for long enough
If your advert remains active for at least as long as the selected package, the promotion will run within this existing publication period. The advert will receive the booked additional display during the package duration.
Example: Your advert remains active for longer than the selected package. The promotion service can then begin immediately after successful booking and run in full within the advert’s remaining time.
Make the most of this period by keeping your details up to date and responding to messages promptly.
If the remaining time is shorter
If the advert’s regular remaining duration is shorter than the booked promotion service, the advert may be extended so that the promotion can run for its intended duration. This keeps the promoted advert publicly accessible for longer.
A specific example: Your advert would end in 3 days and you book ‘Yellow Frame’ for 7 days. In this case, the advert’s duration is extended by 4 days so that the booked promotion service can run for its full duration.
This arrangement is particularly useful if you wish to highlight an advert that has already been active for some time at a later date. You do not need to create a new copy simply because the expiry date is approaching.
The extension serves to deliver the booked package. It does not mean that every booking creates a completely new publication period of any chosen length. The duration displayed when purchasing remains decisive.
The right time to book
For an advert that is already active, the package duration generally begins immediately after successful payment. It cannot be freely reserved for a later date. It is therefore best to book when your offer is ready and you can actually make use of the additional attention.
Do not wait until the last few minutes of the advert’s current duration before paying. If the advert expires during the payment process, the promotion service may no longer be activated. You should therefore allow a little time for the booking.
A good time to book is when:
- the offer or request is up to date
- the title, description and images are complete
- the price or reward is correct
- dates and availability have been clarified
- you are able to reply to messages during the promotion period
- the package duration suits your objective
Archived or deactivated adverts
A promotion is effective only for a publicly accessible advert. If your advert is archived or has been deactivated, you must first reactivate and republish it. Check and update all of its content when doing so.
Pay particular attention to:
- current availability
- correct prices and conditions
- valid dates
- suitable images
- a complete description
As soon as the advert is active again and the booking option is offered, you can select a suitable promotion service. A rejected or blocked advert cannot be made public through a promotion. In this case, first clarify the reason for its status.
What happens when an advert is deactivated during the promotion period
If you deactivate a promoted advert, it disappears from public view. The duration of the package that has already been booked is not paused.
This means:
- The advert is not publicly visible whilst it is deactivated.
- The booked promotion service cannot generate public attention during this time.
- The package duration continues to run regardless.
- Days that have elapsed will not be made up after reactivation.
- After reactivation, only the remaining original duration will be available.
Combining multiple packages effectively
You can book several promotion services for the same advert if they are offered. Each package has its own duration, so the start and end times do not have to be identical.
If several active packages extend beyond the advert’s previous duration, the advert’s duration may adjust to whichever promotion service is still running. Successive bookings can therefore extend the period for which the advert is publicly available. Nevertheless, before every further booking, check that the advert and offer are still current.
Check the remaining time for each package separately under My Adverts. This shows which highlighting is currently active and when you can plan your next promotion.
How to make the most of the period
Choose a package duration that matches the actual availability of your offer. A shorter period may be suitable for an upcoming event or a short-term promotion. For a service that requires explanation or a high-value item, a longer period may be more helpful.
A carefully chosen duration combines additional visibility with the period during which your offer is actually current. This ensures the promotion works as effectively as possible for you.
