Be aware of the visibility of your profile name
Your profile name is publicly visible information. In particular, it may appear on your profile, on your own listings, in message views and in connection with reviews. Therefore, choose a name that other users can understand and that does not contain confidential information.
Changing your profile name does not automatically anonymise your previous activities. Interactions that have already taken place may still be associated with your account.
Real name or pseudonym
For a personal account, you may use your real name or a suitable pseudonym, provided that you comply with the requirements displayed and the applicable rules. A pseudonym must not be used to impersonate another person, a company, a public authority or any other organisation.
In particular, the profile name must not be misleading, offensive, discriminatory or unlawful and must not infringe third-party rights. Do not use third-party trademarks, names or official titles in a way that suggests a connection or authority that does not exist.
Also avoid including telephone numbers, email addresses, full postal addresses, payment details or other sensitive information in the profile name. Such data may become publicly visible and, depending on how it is presented, may breach the rules that apply to profile information. The General Terms of Service and the usage rules incorporated into them apply. Change the profile name using an available edit option
Sign in to suchen.expert and open your own profile or the account settings. If an edit option for the profile name is displayed there, open it, enter the desired name and follow the steps shown to save it.
Labels, layout and available features may vary depending on the account type or technical implementation. Therefore, do not assume that a particular button or position will be available. After saving, check which name is displayed on your profile.
If no edit option is displayed
If no option to change the name is visible, do not try to create a new account with the desired name. Use the contact form instead. In your request, provide:
- the current profile name,
- the desired new profile name,
- the registered email address,
- the account type,
- the link to your own profile, if known,
- a brief explanation if the request concerns the correction of an error or a change to business details.
Never send your password, activation or reset links, or one-time security codes. Support does not need this information to assess a possible name change.
Possible requirements and review
The input field may specify technical requirements concerning length, characters or format. Follow the guidance displayed directly there. A technically accepted name is not automatically permitted in terms of its content.
A change may be reviewed, limited or rejected if the desired name breaches rules, could affect third-party rights, is misleading or requires additional information for clarification. Do not assume any particular processing or approval time.
Avoid frequent changes that could mislead other users about your identity or the context of previous interactions.
What the name change does not change
Changing the publicly visible profile name does not automatically change:
- the registered email address,
- your password,
- the sign-in method used,
- the linked Google account,
- the account type,
- account ownership or association,
- the legal name of a company.
Profile name when signing in with Google
For a personal account, signing in with Google can serve as both registration and activation. Changing the profile name on suchen.expert changes neither the name nor the email address of your Google account.
Conversely, do not assume that a later change to your Google account will automatically be transferred to the suchen.expert profile. Use the edit option offered on suchen.expert for the profile name or contact support.
Signing in via Facebook or Apple is planned for the future. Neither option’s availability nor a launch date is promised. This does not affect the rules for changing an existing profile name.
Special considerations for a business account
For a business account, it may be necessary to distinguish between a visible profile name, the legal company name and other business details. Changing the profile name does not automatically change the legal company name or the account's association.
Business details must be accurate and must not convey a false company identity or authority to represent the company. A change to the company name, legal form, account ownership or other essential business details may require contacting support and an additional review.
The request should be made by a person authorised to act for the company. Do not submit supporting documents unless asked to do so; instead, follow the specific instructions from support using the method designated for this purpose.
Impact on existing content
Depending on the technical presentation, the new profile name may also appear as the current account name on existing listings, messages or reviews. In other contexts, previous names, historical information or references that have already been generated may remain.
It cannot therefore be promised that every previous mention will be changed immediately or retrospectively. A name change also does not remove listings, messages, reviews or other account content.
Edit the profile photo separately
The profile name and profile photo are separate profile details. Changing the name does not replace or remove the existing image. Guidance on the image can be found in How do I update my profile photo? Privacy and account security
A pseudonym may make you less immediately recognisable to other users, but does not guarantee complete anonymity. The platform continues to process the data required for the account and its use. Further information can be found in the Privacy Policy. Do not publish any information in the profile name that could be used to sign in to, recover or confirm your account. If you notice an unauthorised name change, secure your email account, change your password where necessary and inform support using the official contact form. Guidance on resetting your password can be found in How do I reset my password?
