Do I need a separate advert for every size or colour?
Yes. If a product in different sizes or colours is offered individually, create a separate advert for each variant that is actually available.
This ensures that the title, description, price, images and availability can be clearly assigned to the respective variant.
Example:
- A black jacket in size S gets its own advert.
- A black jacket in size M gets its own advert.
- A blue jacket in size M gets its own advert.
Even if the model, brand or product type is the same, different sizes or colours are not completely identical offers.
Why are separate adverts necessary?
Interested parties often search specifically for a particular size, colour or version. A separate advert makes it easier for them to recognise and assess the suitable variant correctly.
Separate adverts allow for:
- a unique title,
- an accurate description of the variant,
- appropriate images of the actual item,
- a correct price,
- clear information on availability,
- unambiguous allocation of enquiries,
- a more targeted presentation within the relevant type and category.
A single advert with many selectable variants can become confusing. It may also remain unclear which price, condition and images correspond to which version.
What counts as a different variant?
A separate advert is particularly useful or necessary if items differ in terms of:
- size,
- colour,
- pattern,
- version,
- model,
- material,
- storage capacity,
- technical specifications,
- condition,
- items included.
If several items are in fact identical in all essential respects, they may, where appropriate, be combined under the conditions described in the relevant FAQ.
When can a combined set advert be used?
A combined advert may be considered if all variants will be handed over exclusively together as a complete package.
In this case, no choice between individual sizes or colours may be offered. It must be clearly evident that all the items listed form part of the joint offer.
In this case, please describe:
- all sizes and colours included,
- the exact number of items,
- the condition of each component,
- all items included,
- the total price,
- that the offer applies exclusively as a complete set.
If the variants are offered individually, do not group them together as a set simply because they are the same model or product type.
How should the title be worded?
State in the title the specific variant offered in this advert.
Suitable examples:
- “Women’s jacket, size M, blue”
- “Men’s shoes, size 42, black”
- “Children’s jumper, size 128, red”
- “Shelf, 80 cm wide, white”
- “Smartphone, 256 GB, black”
Avoid general titles such as:
- “Jackets in various sizes and colours”
- “Lots of shoes to choose from”
- “Several variants available”
- “All colours and sizes”
The title must not give the impression that interested parties can choose freely between several variants within one advert.
What information should be included in the description?
The description must fully explain the specific variant on offer.
In particular, please specify:
- the exact product name,
- the size on offer,
- the actual colour or finish,
- the condition,
- any known defects or signs of wear,
- the material and key characteristics,
- the items included,
- the price of this variant,
- the number of items available,
- collection or delivery options,
- the actual location of the item.
For clothing or shoes, measurements may also be helpful if sizes vary depending on the manufacturer.
Do not rely solely on the images. Size, colour and design must also be clearly stated in the text.
Can I refer to other variants in my profile?
Yes. You may state objectively that further sizes or colours are available on your suchen.expert profile.
A suitable way to phrase this is:
- “This advert concerns only the colour blue in size M. You can find other available sizes and colours in my suchen.expert profile.”
The profile note must not replace the details of the specific variant being offered.
Do not use it to:
- leave the actual size unspecified,
- offer several variants within this advert,
- state different prices only on request,
- conceal the specific colour or version,
- redirect interested parties to external contact options.
Do not list other sizes and colours as though they could be selected directly through the same advert. A reference to other independent offers in your profile is sufficient.
Which images should I use for each variant?
The images must show precisely the variant offered in the advert concerned.
Please ensure that you:
- use your own up-to-date images of the actual item,
- show the correct colour and version,
- display any size labels or product markings legibly,
- show any known defects in the relevant variant,
- show the items actually included,
- do not use third-party manufacturer or seller images as a substitute for your own images.
Do not use the same main photo for different colours or versions. Otherwise, it may appear that several adverts concern the same specific item.
A single overview image showing several variants may only be used as a supplement. The specific variant on offer must remain clearly identifiable by its title, description and additional images.
If an overview image is likely to cause confusion, do not use it.
How do I state the price correctly?
Every variant advert must contain the price of the version described in it.
This also applies if:
- all variants have the same price,
- individual sizes cost different amounts,
- certain colours are offered at a reduced price,
- only one variant is given away free of charge,
- additional components are included.
Do not use a general minimum or placeholder price if the specific variant on offer is not available at that price.
If the offer is free of charge, the description must not include any subsequent mandatory costs that were not apparent beforehand.
Select the correct type, category and location
For each variant advert, choose the type and category that match the actual item.
Please note:
- The search function only searches within the type that the user is currently viewing.
- An incorrect selection may prevent the right interested parties from finding the advert.
- The category must match the specific product.
- The location must correspond to the actual location or handover point.
- A variant in a different location requires the details applicable to that location.
Do not select an incorrect type, an inappropriate category or the wrong location in order to gain additional visibility.
Avoid duplicates and misleading variants
Separate variant adverts must actually differ in content.
In particular, avoid:
- several adverts for the same specific variant,
- generic placeholder images for different colours,
- size details that do not match the label shown in the image,
- colour details that do not match the actual item,
- price details that only apply to a different variant,
- the same item listed in different categories or locations,
- slightly altered titles for adverts that are otherwise identical,
- an excessive list of other sizes and colours used as keywords.
A different heading or preview image does not turn the same specific item into an independent offer.
Do not use hashtags or repeated search terms to place several variants artificially in one advert.
What should I do after a sale, handover or reservation?
Update the status of each variant individually.
If a variant has been sold, given away or reserved:
- do not continue to mark it as available,
- respond truthfully to any ongoing enquiries,
- update the quantity available,
- deactivate the advert concerned if it is temporarily unavailable,
- archive or delete it once the offer has ended,
- check whether a profile reference in other adverts is still accurate.
Do not silently replace a size or colour that is no longer available with another variant. This would materially change the advert’s original content.
For a different variant, use the advert created for it or, if necessary, create a new, accurate entry.

What should be checked before submitting?
For each variant advert, check:
- The title includes the correct size and colour.
- The description relates only to the specific variant.
- The price and items included are unambiguous.
- The images show the actual item on offer.
- The size label and colour specification match the item on offer.
- The condition and any defects are described accurately.
- The type, category and location have been selected correctly.
- The number of items available is up to date.
- There is no other advert for the same specific variant.
- The reference to other offers in the profile remains accurate.
- Variants that are not available are not displayed as selectable options.
Review and publication
Each advert may be reviewed before publication. Presenting different sizes or colours separately guarantees neither automatic approval nor a particular position in the search results.
Publication within a fixed timeframe cannot be guaranteed either.
If an advert is rejected:
- read the reason given,
- check the size, colour, title and images,
- check for any duplicates,
- correct the details that have been flagged,
- only then resubmit the advert,
- do not create slightly altered copies to circumvent the review process.

When should I contact support?
Use the contact form if you are unsure whether items are genuinely identical or must be posted as separate variants. Please specify, where possible:
- which product is involved,
- which sizes and colours are available,
- whether the items will be handed over individually or exclusively together,
- how many units of each variant are available,
- whether adverts have already been created,
- which type and category you have selected,
- whether a rejection or error message was displayed.
Support can review the specific case. Publication or a particular processing time cannot, however, be guaranteed.
