Search history helps you retrieve recently used search terms more quickly. You can reuse an earlier term or clear the history when you no longer need the entries.

What is search history used for?
When you open the search bar, your most recently used search terms are displayed. This makes repeated searches easier: instead of typing the same term again, select the relevant entry and run the search once more.
Search history remembers the term you used. The currently open search scope and the filters selected there still apply to the results. Therefore, check whether you are searching globally from the home page or are already on the search or results page for a particular type.
The article Global search vs. results search – the difference explained simply explains how these two search scopes differ.

Run your last search again
Open the search bar and select the entry you want from the displayed history. Then check whether the correct type is open and whether a category or another filter is unnecessarily limiting the results. A search term used earlier will not necessarily produce the same results because adverts may have been added, changed, deactivated or deleted.

Clear search history
If you no longer want previous search terms to be displayed, use the delete option provided in the search history and follow the options shown there. This may be useful, for example, if you use a shared device or want to keep the list easier to review.
Before deleting an entry, briefly check whether you may need the term later. A removed history entry will no longer be available as a quick selection, but you can enter the search term in the search bar again if needed.

Search history and search templates are different features
Search history only records recently used search terms and makes it easier to run them again. It does not save a search template or trigger email notifications about new matching adverts.
A search template is intended for a search that you want to monitor over a longer period using selected criteria. If notifications are enabled for the template, you can be informed by email about new matching adverts. Simply selecting a term from the search history does not activate such a notification.
To learn how to prepare a search for this purpose and manage notifications, see Using search templates – receive automatic notifications.

Which feature suits your purpose?
- Use search history when you want to quickly search again for a term you entered recently.
- Use a search template when you want to save selected search criteria and monitor new matching adverts.
- Start a new search when you deliberately want to change the term, type or filters.
This helps prevent search history from being confused with a saved search or a notification feature.
