When resetting your password is appropriate
Reset your password if you have forgotten it, if your current password is no longer accepted when you sign in or if you suspect that someone else may have gained access to it. You should also set a new, unique password for suchen.expert if you used the same password with another service that has been compromised.
However, resetting your password is not the right solution if:
- your email address has not yet been confirmed,
- you originally signed in with Google and do not use a separate suchen.expert password,
- you are simply entering the wrong email address,
- your account has been temporarily restricted or permanently deleted,
- a general technical issue is preventing you from signing in.
Resetting your password using ‘Forgot password’
Open suchen.expert directly in your browser and go to the sign-in page. Select ‘Forgot password’ and enter the email address used to register the account concerned.
Submit the request using the option provided for this purpose. For security reasons, the response displayed may be worded neutrally and need not reveal whether an account exists under the address entered.
If a reset is available for the account, follow the instructions in the email you receive. Open the link and set a new password that meets the requirements currently displayed. Depending on the process, you may then need to sign in with the new password; do not assume that you will be signed in automatically.
If no email arrives
Check your main inbox as well as the spam, junk, Promotions and other automatically sorted folders. Search your entire mailbox for ‘suchen.expert’. Also check whether the mailbox can receive new messages and whether the address entered contains a typing error.
Do not request the message repeatedly within a short period. Multiple requests may result in several emails whose links may not all be usable at the same time.
If you can no longer access the registered email address or are unsure which address was used, do not create a replacement account. Contact support using the contact form instead. Use only the most recent link
A reset link may be valid for a limited time, usable only once or replaced by a more recent request. Therefore, use only the link in the most recently requested email.
Pay attention to the date and time of the messages, as delayed delivery may change their order in your mailbox. If the link appears to be expired, invalid or already used, request a new link once using the official option.
Choose a secure and unique password
Choose a sufficiently long password that you do not use with any other service. Also follow the requirements displayed when setting the password. Avoid easily guessed details such as names, dates of birth, profile names, simple number sequences or familiar words with only minor changes.
A long, randomly generated string of characters or a non-obvious passphrase is generally better than a short password that merely appears complicated. A reputable password manager can generate a unique password and store it securely. Protect the password manager itself with a strong master password and the security features it offers.
After resetting your password, update any saved login details in your browser or password manager. Otherwise, the old password may accidentally be used again the next time you try to sign in.
If you are still signed in
If you know your current password and a password-change option is offered in your account, you can use it. If no such option is visible or you no longer know your previous password, use ‘Forgot password’.
After changing your password, sign in on your own devices using the new password. If an option to view or end existing sessions is offered and you suspect unauthorised access, use it to end any sessions that are no longer needed or that you do not recognise. This option is not necessarily available in every account context.
If you suspect unauthorised access
First, secure the email account to which recovery messages are sent. Change its password using the email provider’s official website, check the recovery details and forwarding rules and, if offered, enable additional sign-in verification.
Then reset your suchen.expert password and inform support of any suspicious changes or activity. Describe what you have discovered without providing passwords or security codes.
Signing in with Google for a personal account
For a personal account, signing in with Google can serve as both registration and activation. An account set up in this way may not have a separate suchen.expert password.
In this case, select sign-in with Google again and use exactly the same Google account as you used during registration. Reset your Google password only through Google's official pages or official app. Do not follow links in unexpected messages, and do not share Google passwords or confirmation codes with either suchen.expert or other users.
Sign-in via Facebook or Apple is planned for the future. Neither their availability nor a specific launch date is promised.
Special considerations for business accounts
A separate business registration process applies to a business account. Use the business email address registered for this purpose and the designated sign-in method. Signing in with Google for a personal account does not replace access to a business account.
Only people authorised by the company should use the login details. If you encounter problems, do not create a new personal account or an additional business account to replace your existing access. Instead, provide support with the company name and registered email address.
Keep passwords, links and codes confidential
Never send your password, a complete reset link or one-time confirmation codes to other users or to support. Do not publish such information in a listing, profile or screenshot either.
Only open a reset email if you initiated the request yourself. Check the context, the sender’s domain and the link destination. A displayed sender name alone is not reliable proof of authenticity. If in doubt, open suchen.expert manually and restart the process using ‘Forgot password’.
Information about the processing of personal data can be found in the Privacy Policy. If sign-in still does not work
Check that you are using the correct email address, the correct account type and the sign-in method originally used. Make sure that a password manager is not still entering the old password.
If the problem persists, use the contact form. Provide the registered email address, the account type, the chosen sign-in method, the approximate time of the most recent attempt and the exact wording of the error message. A screenshot may help, provided that it does not show any passwords, complete recovery links or security codes.
