+ Place an advert
You can use the unique advert ID to search for a specific advert. What matters is the page from which you start the search: searches from the home page are global, while searches from a search or results page cover only the type that is currently open.

What is an advert ID?
Every advert on suchen.expert has a unique ID number. This distinguishes it from other adverts and allows you to open it directly if you know the full ID. Searching by ID is especially useful when someone has told you about a particular advert and you do not want to search by title, description or category first.

If you do not know the advert’s type
Start the search on the suchen.expert home page and enter the full ID there. This search is global and is therefore suitable if you do not know whether the advert belongs to a type such as ‘Lost’, ‘Found’, ‘Giveaway’, ‘Incidents’, ‘Services’, ‘Marketplace’ or ‘Events’.
If the advert is active and publicly available, it may appear in the results. For more information about the search scope, see Global search vs. results search – the difference explained simply.

If you already have a type open
On a search or results page, searching by advert ID is also limited to the type that is currently open. For example, if you are in the ‘Marketplace’ type, only that type is searched. A correct ID for an advert in another type will therefore not produce the desired result on this page.
In this case, first open the appropriate type. If you are not sure which type it is, go to the home page and use the global search. Removing a category or other filters broadens the results only within the type that is already open; it does not make the search global.

Why is no advert displayed even though the ID is correct?
First, check that you entered the full ID without any typing errors. If the search still returns no result, the following causes are particularly likely:
- You are searching in the wrong type on a search or results page.
- The advert has been deactivated or deleted.
- The advert is not, or is no longer, publicly visible.
Although a unique ID is the most precise search criterion, it does not override the current search scope or the advert’s visibility status. A deactivated, deleted or publicly unavailable advert cannot be found or opened through search.

A practical sequence for searching by ID
If the first search does not produce a result, it is best to proceed in this order:
- Compare the ID you entered with the original information again.
- Check whether you are currently within a particular type.
- If you do not know the type, switch to the global search on the home page.
- Bear in mind that only active, publicly available adverts can be found.
