When account activation is required
Whether separate activation is required depends on the registration method currently available. Registration may, in particular, involve entering the required account details, accepting the applicable terms, confirming your email address or signing in via an external login service.
If you are told during registration that you must confirm your email address, activation forms part of that process. The procedure may differ if another sign-in method is offered. The instructions displayed during registration apply. Further legal information is set out in Section 3 of the General Terms of Service.

Activation and sign-in via external login services
For personal accounts, the ‘Continue with Google’ option can currently be used, provided that the relevant button is displayed in the sign-in window. When used for the first time, signing in with Google may also register or activate your suchen.expert account. Follow the steps displayed during this process.
The sign-in is authenticated by Google. Enter your Google login details only on the official Google website or in the official Google app. Employees or support staff of suchen.expert will not ask you to disclose your Google password or a confirmation code by message, email or telephone.
Before confirming, check which email address is linked to the Google account and which information will be sent to suchen.expert. Further information about the processing of personal data can be found in the Privacy Policy.
It is planned that sign-in via Facebook and Apple will also be offered in the future. These options will only be available when the corresponding buttons are officially displayed in the registration or sign-in window on suchen.expert. No specific launch date is promised.
A separate registration process requiring additional company details and supporting documents may apply to business accounts. The options and instructions displayed in the relevant registration form apply.
Activation via a link in the email
If email confirmation forms part of your registration, an email containing an activation or confirmation link will be sent to the address you provided. Only open an email that you are expecting after starting the registration yourself.
Before opening the link, check the context, the sender’s domain and the link’s destination. A displayed sender name alone is not reliable proof of authenticity.
If in doubt, open suchen.expert manually in your browser and check your account status there instead of clicking an unexpected link.
Open the activation link and follow the steps displayed. Depending on the process, a confirmation will then appear or you will be asked to sign in.

What activation confirms
Activation primarily confirms that, at the time of the process, you have access to the email address provided.
It is not comprehensive proof of identity and does not automatically confirm that all profile information has been checked or that only ‘genuine users’ are registered.
Even after successful activation, individual features may depend on further requirements, the relevant account status, technical conditions or additional checks. You should therefore not assume that a single click will make every feature available immediately and without exception.

Use only the most recent activation link
An activation link may be valid for a limited time, usable only once or no longer valid after a new link has been requested. You should therefore always use the most recent activation email.
If you have already opened the link successfully, using it again may result in a message stating that it is invalid or has already been used. In this case, first try signing in as normal.
For information about links that do not work, see the article My activation link has expired or doesn't work.

If no activation email arrives
First check the spam and junk folders and, where applicable, the Promotions folder in your email account. Also search for the name suchen.expert and check whether you may have made a typing error in the email address during registration.
A detailed troubleshooting guide can be found in the article I haven't received the activation link – what can I do?.

Request a new link only through a function provided for that purpose
If an option to resend the activation link is offered on the sign-in, registration or notice page, you can use it.
This option may not necessarily be available in your profile, particularly if the account has not yet been activated.
Do not request numerous emails in quick succession. Multiple requests may result in several emails, and older links may no longer work. Wait for the most recent email and use only the link it contains.
If the email address was entered incorrectly during registration, correct it only using an account function provided for this purpose. If no such option is visible, contact support.

If the account may already be activated
If you receive a message stating that a link has already been used or is no longer valid, the account may already be activated. Open suchen.expert directly and try to sign in using the registered email address.
If sign-in fails despite successful activation, there may be a separate sign-in or password issue.
In that case, follow the guidance in the article What can I do if I can't log in? instead of repeatedly requesting new activation links.

Protect your activation link and login details
Treat an activation link as confidential. Do not forward or publish it, as it is intended to confirm access to the email address provided.
Never share your password or any sign-in or confirmation codes with other users or people claiming to be support staff.
Enter confidential information only on the official website and only in the form provided. Information about the processing of personal data can be found in the Privacy Policy.

Unexpected activation email
If you did not start a registration, do not click the link in the email and do not reply with any personal information. Your address may have been entered accidentally or misused.
If necessary, open suchen.expert manually and contact support using the contact form.
The unexpected email alone does not necessarily mean that someone has access to your email account or an existing account. However, change the password for your email account immediately if there are any further signs of unauthorised access.

Help with activation
If you are unable to activate the account after following these steps, use the contact form.
Provide the email address used during registration, the approximate time at which the process took place and the exact wording of any error message displayed. A screenshot that does not show any passwords, complete activation links or other confidential information may help support assess the request.
Never send support your password, a complete activation link or one-time security codes.
